The short-range goal is for a &amp;quot;whiteout&amp;quot; effect against Florida.
Tennessee men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl walked into his Monday media luncheon sporting a new OUTLIVE T-shirt he hopes will fill Thompson-Boling Arena when the Vols play the Gators on Jan. 31.

Head coach Bruce Pearl is no casual observer - and he has the same question.
Pearl was asked at his Monday media luncheon if he was worried about the &amp;quot;toughness&amp;quot; of his 15th-ranked Vols.
&amp;quot;Yeah, absolutely,&amp;quot; he said. &amp;quot;I've been worried about my team's toughness all season.

This time, the University of Tennessee men’s basketball coach made his way into Viking Hall early on Tuesday evening.

The 16th-ranked Vols will welcome back junior guard J.P. Prince. Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns won’t be as fortunate. Louisiana (4-6) will have to play its second consecutive game without 6-foot-7 guard Travis Bureau, who leads the team in scoring and field-goal percentage. Bureau, who has a groin injury, didn’t make the trip to Knoxville, according to a UL publicist. Prince, the SEC’s sixth man of the year in 2007-08, has missed the last three games with an ankle injury. UT coach Bruce Pearl hopes Prince can play 10 to 15 minutes.

Get ready, Wayne Chism.
"Wayne is one of our best players, so there's a lot more at stake with him playing well or not playing well," Pearl said. "We can't beat the best teams on our schedule when our best players don't play well."

</title><link>http://govolsxtra.com/news/2008/dec/21/hopson-hitting-floor-raises-pearls-hopes/?partner=RSS</link><description>Tennessee freshman Scotty Hopson hit the floor, and the Vols’ bench sprang to their feet. It didn’t matter that Hopson didn’t come up with the ball in the loose ball scramble, but his play represented what the team as a whole has been missing.
“Scotty had three assists, one turnover, a steal and he dove on the floor for a loose ball — that’s growth,’’ said UT coach Bruce Pearl after the No. 16 Vols (8-2) defeated Belmont 79-77 on Saturday. “The bench was excited to see him down there (on the floor). They hadn’t seen him down there all year.’’
