Hopson is freshman of week
Tennessee’s Scotty Hopson has been named the SEC freshman of the week, the league office announced Monday.
Hopson, from Hopkinsville, Ky., scored 17 points in 19 minutes during his collegiate debut Saturday against Chattanooga.
One of two freshman starters for the Vols Saturday, Hopson was 7-of-11 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. He added three rebounds, one steal and one block in the winning effort.
Four of his baskets were on dunks, including one listed in ESPN SportsCenter’s Top-10 Plays Saturday night.
